The Grande Prairie Pride Society is dedicated to creating safe and inclusive spaces for self-expression, promoting equality, and celebrating the diversity of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and its allies in the region. Recognizing the unique challenges faced by queer youth, the Society identified a critical need for targeted educational support. Research indicates that 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals experience significant health and social inequities, including a heightened risk of depression and anxiety. The Grande Prairie Pride Society established the Rainbow Pathways Student Award Fund in response to these challenges. This bursary initiative offers financial support and serves as a beacon of encouragement, signaling to 2SLGBTQIA+ youth that their community values their contributions and is invested in their success. By supporting educational endeavours, the Society aims to empower queer youth to overcome barriers, achieve their goals, and contribute positively to the broader community.
